Meet the Baker
The Sour Crumb began as a way to feed my family better—better bread, better ingredients, and better habits around our table. While I’ve been baking since I was a girl by my mom’s side, sourdough reignited something deeper: a passion not just for creating, but for sharing what I make.
What started with one loaf quickly grew into a love for slow baking and an appreciation for simple, thoughtful food. Every loaf, muffin, and cookie that leaves my kitchen is made by hand, in small batches, with care and clean ingredients. I bake the way I cook for my own family—thoughtfully, simply, and with a whole lot of heart.
Whether you’ve been following along from the beginning or just discovered us at a local market, I’m so glad you’re here.

Want to Start Baking at Home?
Meet Clyde—the heart of our bakery and the sourdough starter behind every loaf we bake.
This dehydrated version makes it easy to start your own sourdough journey at home, whether you’re brand new or returning to the rhythm of real bread. Just add water, follow our step-by-step guide, and you’ll have a strong, active starter in just a few days.
Every purchase includes access to our free “Rehydrating Clyde” mini-course, with detailed instructions, a printable feeding schedule, and troubleshooting tips to help you succeed.
Ready to Order
We bake everything fresh in small batches, and our schedule fills up quickly — thank you for your patience and support!
When you place an order on our website, you’re submitting a request, not completing a purchase. At checkout, you’ll choose one of our available market dates.
Here’s how it works:
Thursdays — Find us at the Providence Farmers Market in Huntsville (Weeks 1–3 each month).
Fridays — Pick up at our pop-up outside Blue Apple Books on Main Street in Madison.
All orders are placed from our Monthly Market Menu, which features the breads, seasonal treats, and dry mixes available for the month. Prefer to pick up in Madison on Friday instead of Thursday? Just leave a note at checkout — we’ll bring your order to Blue Apple Books instead.
You’re also welcome to order from a market menu and choose porch pickup — just leave a note at checkout. Your order will be labeled and waiting on the porch before we leave for the market.
The bakery is closed the final week of each month, so be sure to order early for the first three weeks to get your favorites.
Once we review your request, we’ll send a confirmation and invoice if your order is accepted. From there, your items will be baked fresh and ready for your selected pickup day.
