Garlic Herb Sourdough
There’s nothing quite like warm, golden garlic bread — especially when it starts with fresh sourdough. We used our house herb dip mix, blended with butter and fresh garlic, to make a simple spread that turns any loaf into the star of the table.
This recipe is flexible: you can make it heavy on the seasoning like we do, or go lighter if you prefer a subtler flavor. Either way, it’s quick, cozy, and perfect for pairing with pasta, soup, or a fresh salad.
Ingredients
-
½ loaf fresh sourdough (any variety works!)
-
4 Tbsp (½ stick) unsalted butter, softened
-
1–2 cloves fresh garlic, minced (to taste)
-
⅓ packet The Sour Crumb Herb Dip Mix (or more, if you like it bold — we do!)
-
Note: This covered half a sourdough loaf, double if using the entire Boule.
Ingredients

4 Tbsp (½ stick) unsalted butter, softened
-
1–2 cloves fresh garlic, minced (to taste)
-
⅓ packet The Sour Crumb Herb Dip Mix (or more, if you like it bold — we do!)
Note: This amount covers about half a sourdough loaf. Double the recipe if you’re using a full boule.
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment for easy cleanup.
-
Prepare the spread: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, herb dip mix, and minced garlic until smooth and well combined.
-
Slice the bread: Cut the sourdough into thick slices (about 1 inch).
-
Spread generously: Coat each slice with the garlic herb butter, making sure to cover edge to edge for maximum flavor.
-
Bake: Arrange slices on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the bread is golden and the edges are lightly crisp.
-
Serve warm: Enjoy right away with your favorite meal — or sneak a slice straight from the pan (we won’t judge).
Notes & Tips
-
Extra crispy? Broil for 1–2 minutes at the end — just keep a close eye so it doesn’t burn.
-
Make ahead: Prepare the garlic herb butter in advance and store it in the fridge for up to 3 days. Spread and bake when ready.
-
Serving idea: Pairs perfectly with spaghetti night, but also makes a great appetizer board alongside cheeses and olives.
