Real ingredients, real craft, made fresh in small batches
Our Story
I've been making things by hand for as long as I can remember - baking beside my mom, quiet afternoons with needlepoint and crochet. Then life happened, and somewhere along the way, I stopped making time for the slow work my hands remembered.
The Sour Crumb began as a way to feed my family better, but sourdough gave me something unexpected: it reminded me what I'd been missing. The patience, the rhythm, the satisfaction of creating something that can't be rushed.
That awakening led me back to the fiber work I'd set aside, back to a slower pace where things have function and intention. Where craft takes time, not shortcuts. Where nothing is rushed or forced.
What started with one loaf has grown into a love for slow craft of all kinds. Whether it's naturally fermented bread or textiles made stitch by stitch, everything from our home is created in small batches with the time it deserves. Our family always comes first - we work during school hours, close for rest, and grow in ways that protect what matters most.
Whether you've been following along from the beginning or just discovered us, we're so glad you're here. Thanks for supporting real craft, made with intention.

Our Commitment to You
Corn-Free & Nut-Free Bakery
Every product at The Sour Crumb is made in our 100% corn-free and nut-free kitchen. We understand how challenging it can be to find truly safe options when allergies affect so many aspects of daily life. You can trust that everything here is made with your safety in mind.
Gluten-Free, Made Thoughtfully
So many of you have asked about gluten-free options, so we've started developing them with the same care as everything else we make. Our gluten-free items are made with gluten-free ingredients, our own gluten-free starter (Freeda), and equipment used only for gluten-free baking. We bake them on separate weeks from our wheat items, after a deep clean of the kitchen and oven.
We're a home kitchen that also bakes wheat, so we're not a certified gluten-free kitchen and can't promise zero cross-contact. What we do promise is to be honest about how everything is made, and to answer your questions before you order.
Made to Last
Every piece from the cozy stitch is crafted with durability in mind. We choose quality materials that are soft, washable, and meant to stand up to real life - from everyday use to being passed down. Our focus is on creating functional, cozy pieces that serve your family well, made by hand with care in our local community.
Small Batch Artisan
We make everything by hand in small batches - whether it's bread rising on the counter or yarn becoming a blanket, stitch by stitch. Small batches mean we can give each piece the attention it deserves. This isn't mass production; it's our hands, our time, and our commitment to quality over quantity.
